The history of
- The Bell -

The Bell is a 17th-century pub in Odell, Bedfordshire, it is a historic Grade II listed building with a thatched roof. The building has been extended and modernized over the years but retains some of it's wonderful traditional features.
The first known document mentioning our building is from 1736, when it was left in a will to John Amis's son.
In 1925 a valuer estimated the trade at 1½ barrels and two dozen bottles of beer per week, explaining: "Trade very bad, no money in Odell". His final remark was: "rather dark"!
During World War Two (1939-1945) the local ARP wardens used a room at the rear of the Bell as a Wardens' Post.
In 1961 Greene King took over! And in 1988 plans were made to begin extensions on the building.
By 2008 the pub had received a full license to become a public house.
Fast forward to 2025, overseen by Lars De Wijngaert (director of Orange Windmill Hospitality) - The Bell in Odell is now a thriving and lively pub with regular exciting events, high quality food & beverages as well as outstanding service. We look to welcoming you!
